From the choice of materials to energy management, every decision at Atlantic Peak was made with the goal of minimizing environmental impact and preserving the landscape and cultural identity of Pico Island. Sustainability here is not a certification, it's a conviction.

Solar Energy
The roof of the reception building houses a photovoltaic production center sized to power the entire development, making it self-sufficient in renewable energy.

Local Materials
Basalt and cryptomeria, endogenous materials of the Azores, are the structural elements of the entire construction, reducing the carbon footprint and integrating the project into the local identity.

Permeable Soil
Internal access routes will be made of permeable pavement of the “Terraway” type. The housing units are elevated from the ground, preserving the morphology and permeability of the soil.

Modular Construction
The modular cube system allows for effective management of construction time and raw material usage, minimizing waste without compromising architectural quality.

Active Agriculture
The land retains its agricultural and livestock vocation: cattle pasture, vegetables, banana trees, and citrus fruits. Local produce directly supplies the food courts.

Green Roofs
The green roofs of the residential units and the stable integrate the buildings into the landscape, improve thermal performance, and increase local biodiversity.

All volumes respect the 6m setback from the perimeter and are hidden within the protected landscape of the Pico vineyards, a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Accessibility
A unit specifically adapted for people with reduced mobility, with level access from the parking area, in accordance with Decree-Law 163/2006.
